Even though The Retreat is a non-secure community, memory support residents are encouraged to wear devices that alert team members when a resident has ventured outside of their normal areas, but it does not stop them. The device manages residents’ locations within Sunny Vista and is specifically designed for people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. This technology allows residents to enjoy a level of independence within the borders of the community. Team members can easily manage each resident’s location even during the busiest hours to give families and loved ones peace of mind.
For residents of the memory care neighborhood, The Retreat features two delicious dining venues. Whether enjoying a full-service dining experience in the Pike’s Peak restaurant or a casual meal in the Culebra Cafe. The chef-prepared cuisine is delicious, nutritious and made with the finest quality ingredients. The elevated dining program infuses the “WOW” in every delightful morsel! The culinary team uses organic and local products in dishes as much as possible. Every day there are specials of the day, soup du jour, and additional every-day favorites from which residents can choose.
The Open Dining menu includes made-to-order burgers, fried fish, omelets, salads and sandwiches. And, outside of open dining hours, residents would like to enjoy a snack, they can request any of the following by putting on their call light and requesting a snack from their nurse aide that could include cottage cheese, Jell-O, fruit or cookies, depending on dietary restrictions.
