Choosing the Right Senior Living Community Can Be Difficult

We were saddened to hear that over 100 residents will be forced to relocate now that Union Printers Home in Colorado Springs is being shut down.  Choosing the right senior living community can be difficult. We have put together a list of 21 questions to evaluate a senior living community. It might aid the seniors or their families in their search.

Extending an Invitation

We would also like to extend an invitation to those residents that are being displaced from their homes and their families to consider The Retreat at Sunny Vista.  We offer exceptional living options.

The Transition

We understand that a transition of this nature is difficult, and we want to help make that transition as smooth as possible.

When transitioning to a new assisted living facility, it is often better to err with having more services in place rather than less at that transition point. That way, if there is an issue, the services are lined up and ready. After the senior is settled in the new environment, you have the option for de-escalating the level of services needed.

Cognitive Decline

If your loved one is experiencing cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s or dementia, it might be best to spend some extra time with them when they first move into a new community. This will help them get familiar with their new surroundings.  It will take them some time to get oriented with the new routine and where to go if they need something. Spending the first three or four days with them and walking with them helps to ease that transition.

Hoping for the very best

So, whether you choose The Retreat at Sunny Vista or another senior living facility in Colorado Springs, we hope that the transition is as smooth as possible and that the seniors are well taken care of.
