Joselyne, recognized for her efforts to serve her community
Our very own care giver, who is committed to serving her community is now being recognized for her efforts. She recently received a Daniels Scholarship. Which is awarded to high school seniors who show leadership in the community.
Joselyne Cimpaye graduated from Harrison High School. She became a CNA and earned her associates degree while still in high school. In the fall of 2020, she started working at The Retreat at Sunny Vista.
She has certainly overcome challenges in her life. In 2007 her family was selected to come to the U.S. after staying in a refugee camp in Tanzania.
She started serving others at a very young age. She volunteered in middle school for programs like Peak Education and Enhancing Leadership Program. She spent the last year helping at the Care and Share Food Bank. An organization she has been helping since her freshman year in high school.
“I feel like I was really doing something for the community because, during that time, we were facing a pandemic, and a lot of families were in a lot of need for food.”

She came to the U.S. not knowing English and is now the first person in her family to earn a college degree. With the scholarship funds she wants to attend Berea College in Kentucky as a geriatric nurse practitioner. The scholarship pays up to $25,000 toward the cost of college tuition and fees.
