CEO

 

Janet Burns has been a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator for 20 years, 11 of which has been at Sunny Vista Living Center. For the first ten years of her tenure, Ms. Burns was the Administrator, managing the day-to-day operations of the facility. In February, 2011 her duties changed with the commencement of construction for the new facility. As CEO, Ms. Burns is currently working toward integrating the three buildings into a Continuum of Care Retirement Community (CCRC).

Ms. Burns graduated from California State University, Sacramento before moving to Colorado Springs in 1991. Since then she has been involved in the Colorado Springs community, previously serving on the Long-term Care Ethics Committee and The State Department of Health Informal Dispute Committee. She is currently serving on the Goodwill Business Advisory Council, assisting those in a program to obtain their Certified Nursing Assistant license and is an active member of the Colorado Springs Kiwanis Club.

Executive Director



Ashley Jones-Fellows is the Executive Director at Sunny Vista Living Center.  She has a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University and a Masters in Social Work from Newman University.  Ashley began her career in long term care as a Certified Nurse Aide and has worked as an Admissions and Marketing Director and a Social Services Director.  In 2011 she completed an administrator in training program which consisted of 2,000 hours and became the Administrator in February of 2011.  She has worked at Sunny Vista Living Center since July of 2007.  As the Executive Director, she is responsible for all the day to day operations at the facility.  This includes regulatory compliance at the federal and state levels, managing the entire staff and keeping the residents and family members satisfied with their care.

Director of Nursing


Kristine Lunsford obtained her RN license in 2008 and has since worked for Sunny Vista starting as a charge nurse, MDS nurse, Assistant Director of Nursing and finally Director of Nursing in 2009.  Kristine is currently pursuing her certification as a Certified Nurse Executive.

Activity Director


Diane Lindberg, CTRS, has worked as a Recreational Therapist since 1983.  She started out as an activity director in several facilities in Colorado Springs then worked in a hospital setting for 9 years.  She started her own activity consulting business in 1999 and traveled throughout Colorado to various care facilities.  Deciding to “settle down”, she once again is back in a permanent home at Sunny Vista since February 2011.

Social Services Team



Jennifer Brooks is the Sub-Acute Social Worker and Discharge Planner for the rehabilitation unit at Sunny Vista Living Center.  She has held this position for the last 6 years.  During a patient’s stay, she maintains communication between the family, patient and interdisciplinary team as to the progress being made and the goals related to the discharge home.  She also assists patients and families in applying for state services, arranging ongoing in home therapy and Nursing services for discharge to home, and assisting with alternate placement if needed.  Jennifer was the recipient of the 2009 Colorado Health Care Association Social Services Professional of the Year, and continues to strive daily to meet and exceed the needs and expectations of Sunny Vista’s patients, families and staff.



Amber Truelson, MSW is the Director of Social Services at Sunny Vista Living Center. She received her Masters of Social Work from Newman University.  She is responsible for the day to day management of the Department of Social Services. She works in conjunction with the Rehabilitation Social Worker, Jennifer Brooks. Before coming to work at Sunny Vista, she worked for a Senior Service Agency and local Hospice.


Business Office Manager

   

Jennifer Goldwater is the Business Office Manager at Sunny Vista Living Center.  She has been with Sunny Vista since March of 2006.  She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from City College of Colorado Springs.  Jennifer has worked in the long term care setting for 25 years.  She started her career as a nursing assistant and has held many positions in several different skilled nursing facilities.

Maintenance Director


Mr Daniel R. Williams is the Maintenance Director for Sunny Vista Living Center.  His training includes two year auto mechanics and one year diesel mechanic certification programs, electrical and electronic, plumbing and pipe fitting, heating and air conditioning, Mechanics IV license, Boilers 101, Boilers 102, Fuel Combustion and Ignition, CO analyzer and gas detectors, and personnel management training.  Dan is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Geology with Environmental Studies at UCCS.  Dan’s previous job assignment was Housing Maintenance Manager at the United States Air Force Academy. He was responsible for the day to day maintenance oversight to include all utilities infrastructure, roads, and housing units.
